Historical Background

Amber Fort, also known as Amer Fort, is a majestic fortress located in Amer, Rajasthan, India, about 11 kilometers from Jaipur. Built in 1592 by Raja Man Singh I, a trusted general of Mughal Emperor Akbar, the fort served as the main residence of the Rajput Maharajas. Blending Hindu and Mughal architectural styles, the fort is renowned for its artistic elements like ornate mirror work, intricate carvings, and grand courtyards. It was later expanded by successive rulers, especially Jai Singh I. Set atop a hill, the fort overlooks Maota Lake and stands as a symbol of Rajasthan's royal heritage.
